Video of the Week: Michele Bachman vs. the 8-Year-Old

Here's the one everyone is talking about this week. The 8-year-old South Carolina boy with a mom who happens to be gay goes up to anti-gay candidate Michele Bachman and tells her his mom "doesn't need fixing."

Bachman plays for the photo op when she can't hear what the little boy is saying at first, smiling, reaching out and telling him her "ears are too far away." When she gets the message she recoils - probably not so much from what the boy said, as much as "Damn! I've been set up!"

Ha ha.

There's no place for anti-gay crap (I won't even dignify it by calling it "rhetoric") in our politics. America's problems are much bigger than that. DOMA's on its death bed. The majority of Americans (including a majority of Roman Catholics) support equal rights, including marriage, for gay people. Yet - until those rights come, LGBT Americans may have to play a little dirty. You be the judge: nice mommy with a bright little boy who knows who Bachman is and what she stands for, or set up?
